Zadan: Allowing the Mind to See

Zadan was founded in 2005 to research the application of cutting edge brain science and mind training techniques, such as meditation and mindfulness. Researchers were discovering just how flexible our brains are and how they can be rewired in amazing ways. We wanted to develop techniques that people could apply to improve their brain’s abilities, achieve goals, and enjoy life moment by moment.

The name Zadan comes from a Japanese word meaning, “Concentrating the mind to see through illusions and see reality as it truly is.”

Through mindfulness and training we can enable the potential of the brain, allowing the mind to see!

About the Founder

Shaun C. Mackey, has been practicing meditation and researching psychology and neuroscience since 1992. In addition to his practice in the US, he spent four years doing formal Vipassana mindfulness meditation training at Wat Doi Suthep Temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and working with teachers from MCU, the oldest university for monks in Thailand.

His professional career has centered around training where he has had international experience and recognition.

He created a nationwide training program for cutting edge radar and navigation equipment in a developing country, as well as establishing the curriculum for a Masters of Business Communication program at a top college.  His earlier work in the United States involved project management for FEDEX and training program development for two of the largest restaurant chains.

Apart from meditation and research, Shaun’s personal interests are in the arts and music. Having played multiple instruments since an early age, written screen plays, done professional graphic design, 3D animation, and dabbled in painting and theater.
